Seven months flew by...

...and I have no excuse other than that, shortly after my last post, we discovered that I am pregnant. We were (and are) ecstatic about the turn of events, and I have spent the intervening time feeling nauseous, elated, and frightened by turns. I'm trying not to let it take over my life entirely, but I have been consciously taking it easy for my body's sake. We've been researching and going to classes and chatting with those "in the know", but also just letting it happen. I think we have struck a nice balance, and I have definitely been enjoying the overarching feeling that time has slowed. Mind you, I am still a busy lady, but time feels stretched, and I'm milking it for all it's worth.

In other news, I've stalled on the Ph.D. research. I finally have the last score (well, parts) that I need, and it's really cool to work with that 18th-century handwriting, but I've been a very poor scholar lately, and I'm not sure how to fix it. I have been waiting for inspiration to strike, but I have a feeling I may have to start being more proactive about courting inspiration instead of waiting for it.

Other events of note:
  • We'll be making a big Thanksgiving dinner for nearby family and friends; I just love cooking for masses of people.
  • The Mason Family Christmas will be held at Chez Gadrow this year. Linda can only come for a day or two, but the boys and the parents will be around for over a week.
  • Mom is coming to stay for a month when the baby is born. It's a relief to know that someone "in the know" will be around as we ramp up on this whole child-rearing thing.
  • Today, my friend Rob is getting married for the third time to the same woman (long story - lots of family expectations to meet). The ceremony will be held just a few miles from here, and I'm looking forward to seeing old Kenyon pals again for the first time in a long time.
  • Kate gave birth to a little girl on Nov. 8; I am so exited for her.
  • Brandi is due today; I am sending good vibes for a safe delivery.
  • One work colleague is a new father today, and a second colleague's wife is in labor.
  • I think there's something in the water - so many babies! My cousin Brianne is a new mom, too, as are my friends Cypriana, Carrie, Laura, and Susan. What a year this has been.
  • Hubby is planning to give his notice in about a month, and has started to get rather nervous about the prospect of switching jobs. He's sure going to love the month off between gigs, though.
  • Work is going well. I'm pushing hard for promotion, since my title doesn't reflect the level of my work at the moment. I love working at this company, though, so I have high hopes the situation will be resolved soon.
That's the big stuff. There's a lot of it, but again, all is well thanks to my friend relaxin. :)
