I love Thanksgiving. Love, love, love it. Family, friends, food - heaven. This year's menu is part Mason-family tradition, part Amanda's-favorites, part brand-new:
roasted turkey, brined using an Alton Brown recipe
giblet gravy, also courtesy of Mr. Brown
Mom's mashed potatoes
simple sweet potatoes (mashed, with butter, brown sugar, and a hint of maple syrup)
Mom's stuffing (actually a dressing)
savory squash crumble (brand-new, from La Tartine Gourmande)
apple-cranberry casserole
Mom's spinach phyllo thing (that's the actual name, I kid you not)
fresh cranberry sauce
peas
corn
fresh rolls
broccoli casserole made by friend Erin
chocolate croissant bread pudding made by friend Erin
pie made by SIL Amy
wine, beer, cider, juice, etc.
That's a whole lot of food for 6 people. I don't think we'll need to go grocery shopping for weeks...
