It's a marvelously sunny Saturday, with a light breeze driving fluffy, white-grey clouds across a gorgeous blue sky - a sky such as we have not seen in months. Mike and Rob are in the kitchen, finishing the opening with wainscoting, drywall, trim, and a new threshold. Patrick and I spent the morning laying low, I catching up on blogs and magazines in a cozy chair in the sunshine, he with old episodes of Law & Order, and with Paper Mario. Actually, he did a lot of work in that time, too - a run to the transfer station, a scrub of the toilets, a spate of vacuuming... I know I should have been helping him clean, or at least been reading my books and working on dissertation stuff, but I had a rough week, and figured I was entitled to a morning off. So I will be spending the afternoon with my books, so I'll make up for it. At least, that's what I'm telling myself now!
Sunny days make everything better. Cleaning, renovating, studying, vacuuming, reading... it's all better in the sun than in the gloom of a cold, rainy day. Rainy days have their own special charm, but I somehow feel more up for life when the gas-ball is visible in the sky. Human beings are funny creatures like that... This one is, at any rate.
