Last weekend I made and canned tomato sauce and pumpkin butter. Fortunately, not in the same jars. :) Both turned out extraordinarily well, considering my novice status as a canner, and I'm excited to be able to give some of it away as holiday gifts. Patrick found the jars (they're extraordinarily hard to find out here, which surprises me to no end - do New Englanders really not can at all anymore?), making the entire process possible. And last night I started some applesauce, which I hope will eventually meet the same well-preserved fate as the tomatoes and pumpkins. Man, I love autumn.
Dad was here in Boston for a few days for a medical conference; it was a treat to have him stay with us, if only briefly. He kicked P's and my butts at Risk, but I anticipate a rematch at Christmas.
Life has been full of stress lately, but this weekend promises to be a welcome break from the non-stop madness. We have many social engagements on Saturday, but absolutely no plans on Sunday - we shall be lazy hermits, mimicking our sedentary old cats in our relaxed activities. Never have I looked forward to an idle day more...

Thanks for following me, man. Do you have your mom's vita mix or did you get a new one? You were my example, so I need to get my facts straight...good thing I'm not an actual journalist.
